I wish I had a copy of the book to show to you rather than going on what I have just read, however if there is an inkling or hint of the truth in this matter, it is beyond shocking. Scholastic the biggest publisher of children’s book has bowed down to political propaganda and hatred. It has in its popular series eliminated a country from the map. It has committed literary genocide.
Why eliminate a country just to sell a book? Why even keep the name Scholastic when really you are just a puppet of profit ? Read Every Day Lead a Better life? Those are your words. How is learning hatred leading a better life? The question begs an answer.
Well, the reason become sadly clear when I write that the Scholastic books are published in the Middle East and Israel no longer exists. Hurrah for the truth, hurrah for hatred. Surely, there must a line drawn in the sand…money for profit, yes, that is what you are in business for, but even then, why not create an imaginary world for these children who are being taught hatred? Simply don’t use the countries real names. Might I suggest Narnia or even take a page from your Harry Potter World, that should satisfy the bottom line of your profits.
Profit for education? Yes, that is the focus of your publishing empire, but for literary genocide? Why allow an entire generation of children be the victims of their parents hatred for a pitiful profit on your books? It is one thing for the Arab nations to use hatred and propaganda against their own children, but Scholastic? Where is your moral compass?

Wow. I’m speechless. That’s unbelievable.
Bone chilling to think Scholastic would aid the spread of hatred in the world, manipulate facts just to sell books, and to children!
That is beyond unbelievable! I always had such respect for Scholastic, too!! Not any more!!!
It’s really frightening when you think we trust Scholastic to help educate our children, to set their minds for the future, and to use their words, “lead a better life”
Scholastic really has betrayed the children of the world.
Very sad state of affairs, Susan. It’ll probably turn out to be ‘an oversight’ or something…
