Week One or what oh what have I done?
The great experiment begins. The internet is shut off at the house. The telly has gone to an old age pensioner. The television license not paid. A new battery for the old Roberts Radio. The work begins. Building works and a few touch ups here and there to an old house.
I am getting worried though. I thought it was a brilliant idea, shut off the internet, why pay for something I won’t be using? After the phone call was made, then the penny dropped. Save money? I won’t save any money by shutting down my internet, I will have to trek down to a café with free wi-fi, or hang out in my friend’s porch to hitch-hike on hers. Why oh why have I done this?
It’s done now. No use sobbing over the proverbial spilt milk. I can ring up and get it all sorted, but I thought, hey let’s give this a try. Can I survive without the constant internet umbilical cord? What will I watch without television or internet downloads? Will all my friends suddenly disappear? Will I be unable to write? Choose a restaurant without it? Stay tuned and wish me luck. I will be uploading posts from your local café!
Oh, my. I wouldn’t make it an hour! Good luck!
Good luck Susan…I have heard of people doing this: I would need to move to a remote Scottish island to remove all possibility of cheating….
So far, it’s been odd to say the least. I am uploading once a week, replying once a week..odd is the only word for it!
I can manage without tv. I have one but it’s hardly ever on (except for the occasional DVD). So long as I have a radio. I was in meltdown in January when I didn’t have internet – not so much for blogging (I got out of the habit – it was all too hard – and, d’you know what? my life didn’t come to a standstill and I got a lot more done) but for keeping in contact with my kids and friends. I felt as if an arm had been cut off.
It will nteresting to read how you fare.
Week one is done and it’s been weird to say the least. I have my Iphone for family but it is really hard to type more than a few lines on it!
It’s really wierd Earlybird. I am so glad I have my iphone to stay connected!
