A very French pause….

Susan Nolen's Photograph of a tea pot

Time for a pause…

It’s time to take a pause in the blog for some fun reasons. I will miss you guys…but will check in and be back in full swing in time for autumn leaves to scatter in the wind! ( that is really blue prose but I couldn’t resist! )

Why? Why? Why?

I am in France for the month of September.  I hope to explore Paris again, and for the first time, the South of France, in the countryside, with a vineyard! I plan to take photographs to share, but with unknown internet connections, I may not be around as much as I want to be. After that it will be back to Europe and then finally London. It’s material gathering time! I hope to settle back into winter with an arm load of photographs and ideas!

Before I Euro Tunnel to France,  in August, I have a painting to finish number two in my series of  “Rooftops of Paris.”

Number one in the series- Paris Rooftop in Moody Blue is finished and waiting its varnish coating. Then when dry- a proper photograph -as some of the colours when they dry, sink. So stay tuned for a proper photograph!

Number Two – Paris Rooftop Pots is dry enough now for a new layer and some chimney pots. It’s screaming finish me first before you get seduced by Paris!  Okay.. okay…I hear you!

still on the easel waiting another layer!

I have a total of seven planned for this series of oils. Whilst sipping an espresso I was looking out the window and the view just captured a part of Paris that is so romantic. I wish I could share the sounds, the laughter, the shouts, the door slams, the radio playing, a cat crying for milk, all blending into the sound of the birds flying over heard. Some of my friends will recognise the view and yes it is from their windows. The rooftops are all in Le Marais, an area I love. I have friends with good taste! Thanks for letting me lean out your windows!  I may do a pre sale as they are finished, but I might wait till all seven are finished for a showing.

I will reblog some earlier posts for new readers. I don’t think most people want to troll back through posts to find something. So if you’ve read it already many thanks! If not? Then I hope you enjoy it as much as I loved writing it.  When I get back to my desk I will probably limit the blog posts to the current year. Still pondering this idea.

In the meanwhile…enjoy the last month of summer. I will be in the studio, varnishing paintings,  adding a new layer to a Paris Rooftop Pots painting, doing French revisions, and pottering about in the  city garden!

About susan sheldon nolen

It’s rare to catch me without coffee, a form of camera, or my beloved wire fox terriers. I love the history, the art, and it’s a massive part of my life, as I either paint, write, or get interrupted by my dogs, reminding me of the real world. I hope you enjoy your time here. It’s such a privilege to have readers.
