We decided Ted needed to get out of the city and planned a short road trip from Seattle Washington to Santa Barbara California. It was only meant to take a few days, but Ted wanted to stop at every beach we saw. I want to share some of the photos of this trip. Hope you enjoy the ride! Ted did! He’s ready to go again and again and again!
I had always heard about the grandeur of the West Coast. I wish I could put in this post the sounds of the waves crashing. The dull clunk and then sudden crack as huge logs crash into each other and pile up on the shoreline and the smell, that marvelous ozone smell that only the ocean can produce! It was hard letting Ted off leash in fear of the logs and well, he just couldn’t hear me over the sound of the waves crashing!
The coast of Washington has rough raw beauty and also tranquil moments in the Quinault lodge. A whiskey in hand to watch the sunset and for Ted to catch some sleep.
The Lake Quinault Lodge was built in 1926 and has a lovely path to walk through the Olympic rain forest. The rain forest has all the elements of Jurassic Park, moss growing on everything that stands still for a second, rain dripping on leaves, and all sounds muted.
I was in awe of the beauty of the Washington Coast. Speechless at times, which is rare for me. Ted was over the moon with new scents and a few dangerous views. A few feet away from where I took the next photo was a sheer cliff. Ted of course said, hey let’s go.
We planned only a few days for this trip, but we just kept stopping. Washington alone took us more than two days to travel. The sunset over the water was spectacular.
Next stop Oregon….
Beautiful pictures! I agree that the Washington Coast is gorgeous.
I’d love to feature this post on our Northwest-based site. Email me for details!
